Scrapbooking, Christmas Traditions

Another layout for the memory nest using photos for my Christmas cards.  That big gray space screams that it needs some journaling to me, so I might need to go back and add some..

Scrapbooking, Christmas

Happy Sinterklaas Day!  I'll celebrate by sharing my layout for the memory nest .  I managed to get a cute picture of my kids for my christmas cards!  I actually got a few pictures, but this one is my favorite!  I wasn't sure if I was going to scrap a black and white version or a colored one, as my kids have some really interesting color combinations going on.  In the end, I found the bird with a pink hat and decided that the color one would win.

Scrapbooking, Donut Lovin

I'm way late in posting this.  It's a layout I made for t he Memory Nest about a month ago.....Life happened along with some fabulous pregnancy brain.  I've found it rather difficult to be behind my computer lately.  I much rather sleep then do almost anything. Oh well.  I've accumulated a lot of donut scrapbook paper and I decided to use these black and white ones.  In real life, this page doesn't seem so black and white.  Originally, I was going to color in all the donuts, but then I kind of liked the look of them not colored in.

Scrapbooking, Together

I have a fun page today for t he Memory Nest ! It lights up!  I'm super impressed by myself on this one.  I found some of my wedding photos that I never scrapbooked and they were tucked with this  really beautiful lantern paper. I cut out the lanterns and I started thinking wouldn't it be cool to make them actually light up?  When I got the sketch with the lightblub on it, I knew I had to make it work.  I don't have any in progress photos (pregnancy makes me lazy), but I used this Chibi Lights kit .  It's a bit expensive, but it is so much fun.  My kids think this is the coolest page ever.  It took two attempts, but I did get it to work.  My electronic/ circut knowledge is very minimal. If you have any questions, let me know!

Cards, Mermaid

I hope you enjoyed my week of cards!  Here is my last one.  I love the rainbow fishes.  I also made one with a narwhal that was mighty awesome, but I don't think I ever took a photo of it.  Bummer!

Cards, Fairy

This birthday card was for one of my nieces.  It's very magical.  hehehe

Cards, Tractor

Today I have a birthday card that was for one of my little nephews.  Enjoy!

Cards, Sprinkles

Welcome to Tuesday's card.  This one is turned out to be one of my favorites.  The one donut is raised up for a little dimension.

Cards, Fungi

I thought I would go and share this week some birthday cards that I have been making.  Sorry the photo is so poor.  I had to quickly snap it before I put it in the mail!

Scrapbooking, Love Today

Happy Monday!  We survived a big storm this weekend.  The storm actually fizzled out tremendously.  Now all the leaves are off the trees!  I just wanted to share my layout for the Memory Nest.  This is the third background I made for this sketch.  My first attempt used gesso and glitter and makes for a fabulous winter page, but not so much for fall.  My second attempt I used different paper and when I went to water color on it, I got a big streaky mess.  So this is try number three!  Actually, the page looked really cool when I fist made it.  It was kind of like an abstract path going through the fall mountains.  I almost wanted to just keep it that way, but I didn't want to make a fourth background. I did put a real leaf on this layout.  I used this super stinky spray stuff that I use for my charcoal drawings to seal the leaf and hopefully preserve it.  If it ends up falling apart, then I'll have to find some fake leaf to replace it.  I gave this page a lot of dimension

Scrapbooking, Morning Walks

Every morning I walk my daughter to school.  We go to a walking only school, but live right on the boundary, so we have a long walk.  It's 1.1 miles to be precise in one direction.  It wouldn't be so bad if it was a flat walk, but there is a nice valley in-between.  So it literally is uphill both directions!  Really, it's my pregnant belly that makes the walk less enjoyable.  Anyways, the walk is always a time where my daughter displays her energy and her quirky sense of style.  I really do like the walks. This is my layout for the Memory Nest .  I just love the fall colors of it!  I had one of those fabulous moments that makes you fear the layout might become a disaster with this layout.  Five minutes before I was about to take a picture of my layout, my ever so adorable son took a purple marker and colored on it.  Luckally, he colored on the wood embellishment only and it was a washable marker, so I could clean it all off!

Scrapbooking, Lovely Molly

How was my daughter ever so small?  Where did that little toddler face go?  I've had this photo sitting on my desk for years in a pile.  It's my pile of photos I want to scrap, but for some reason didn't scrap them and never put them away properly.  Well, I finally got to this one. I hope you enjoy my take on the sketch for the Memory Nest .  I'm not huge into pink and teal, but I actually really like how it worked on this layout. One of my favorite parts is the wooden lovely coming down on the upper right.  I have a bunch of wooden words and I love them so much that I tend not to want to use them.  I do find, that if I don't use them, then they end up breaking.  They are very fragile things. .

Scrapbooking, Jump

Happy Monday! In all the chaos of school starting and what not, I totally forgot to hit publish for this post. Whoops, sorry! Here is my latest page for the memory nest .  I've taken a bunch of swimming photos this summer and have lots of water layouts to make. This time I used my Lawn Fawn mermaid stamps.  I've used them for cards lots, but not a layout yet.  I tried to use the fish stamps to make a chevron like in the sketch, but it kind of ended up going a bit big and you can't really tell.  The coloring of all the fishes was very therapeutic though. I also have exciting news, we are expecting #3 in January! And we found out it is going to be a boy!

Scrapbooking, Mermaid Kisses

Happy Monday!  I'm actually out camping in the Adirondacks for the week.  I'm not much of a camper.  The idea is always nice, but after about three days I run out of steam.  I love kayaking and eating campfire pizzas and grilled cheese, but it just isn't relaxing to me at all.  I have to constantly chase after my kidos, there are lots of bugs, the bathroom is always too far away, and I'm a night owl and it gets rather boring once it is dark out.  Here is my layout for the Memory Nest .  My daughter has really gotten into swimming this year and I'm glad I can use all my water paper.  I have picked up a lot of mermaid and fishy paper.  It's all so cute!  I just love the little whales.  I have a lot of mermaid embellishments in my stash, but they all seemed so big, so I didn't use any of them.  I really don't like my pages to be too themey.

Scrapbooking, Joy of Being Three

Wow summer is going by so fast.  My little guy just turned 3.  Sniffles!  I do hope it brings a little less tantruming, better sleeping, and less picky eating.  I can at least hope, right? Anyways, this is my page for the Memory Nest . I decided to make a page celebrating what three things my son loves since he is now a big three year old.  I wonder what will change and what might not.  I have a feeling he is going to keep on liking purple for a long time, but his love for firetrucks will probably change by next year.  It's hard to say though!

Scrapbooking, Ballet Joy

It seems to be hard to find time to scrapbook when there are all these pokemon to catch! hehehe.  My daughter was just starting to get into pokemon cards when this pokemon go stuff appeared. We definitely have been going on adventures trying to get them. Well, I hope you enjoy my layout for the Memory Nest .  I really love all the papers I used.  They were all scraps and it's nice to use them all up. Well, it's time to get more Pokémon!

Scrapbooking, kitty pool

Happy 4th of July!  It was a weird fourth for us, because our area became incorporated and now we can't shoot of fireworks or even sparklers anymore.  Without the fireworks, it doesn't feel very festive.  If we could at least have sparklers, then that would be a little bit more fun.  We had a little fire going, but it still wasn't the same.  We could go to a big display, but I don't feel like dealing with the hundreds of thousands of people or the traffic it all creates so late at night.  It is realistic to say that 15 minutes of fireworks followed with sitting in traffic for 2 hours just isn't worth it. Here is my layout for the Memory Nest .  My son calls the kiddy pool a kitty pool and now is convinced that is what it is called.  He wants to bring his stuff cat to it all the time and has some amazing melt downs when he isn't allowed to bring it. I had a lot of fun turning the arrows into fishes instead. I always have these fun idea of stitching onto

Scrapbooking, Little Star

Wow we have had a busy weekend at our house!  Saturday, my daughter had her dance recital.  She did such a great job dancing and smiling at the same time.  She loves the stage so much!  Then today, she had her piano recital and gave some more adorable smiles and a big sigh with tongue sticking out between songs.  She is such a goof! So here is my layout for the Memory Nest . A few weeks ago, my daughter made these fabulous poses and I just had to print them out.  With all these recitals in my head, I decided to make a layout about her being my little star.  The background is supposed to be the leo constellation since she is my lion.  Actually, my little guy is also a leo. I didn't really notice that before. Ha! Well, they certainly act like a couple of lion cubs.

Scrapbooking, Colorful

I'm having so much trouble getting this page to post! My post keeps not saving!  Gerrrrr! One of these days, I'll have a lot more time to actually type a lot more about my layouts, but for now you'll just have to enjoy my big title layout for t he Memory Nest with out much jibber jabber because I'm not typing everything up again.

Scrapbooking, Cat Nap

I'm a little late in getting this posted, but I have been insanely busy.  I've had bell concerts and lots of activities for my daughter.  I wouldn't mind having a nice nap like my little guy in this layout I made for the Memory Nest !  =) His favorite color is purple, so I wanted to bring in a lot of purple in this layout. The purples and blues turned out to have a really nice dream like feel to them. And here is a clip from my concert =)

Scrapbooking, Tulips 2016

Happy Monday!  Here is my latest layout for the Memory Nes t.  I'm so happy with how this page turned out.  I've made a lot of tulip pages over the years and it is interesting to try to come up with some new pages (and titles).  I tried a new wooden stamp on my layout.  I had done a bunch of practice stamps with it, but of course it didn't print well on the one time I needed it to print! I had lots of ideas for this sketch, but I remembered I had this frame paper and decided it worked well with what I was planning to do. I kept the little photos all black and white, to keep it a little less busy.  It was a lot more cutting than I was expecting.

Paper Crafts, Birthday Card for Opa

I just wanted to share this little birthday card that I made for my dad's birthday.  I've had these donut stamps on my desk for a long time and they have been screaming, "make a card using me!" lol.  So I did.  I just wish that I had better lighting when I took this, but if I waited for later in the day, then I would have missed the mailman.

Scrapbooking, The Hunt

Happy Monday!  Here is my latest layout for the Memory Nest . So, I knew I had this umbrella paper somewhere.  I was looking all over for it when I was making my little dude's layout.  Well, right after I finished his layout I found the paper!  So, I was determined to use that paper for my daughter's Easter layout now that I had found it. The umbrella paper has a lot going on, so I used half of it.  It also made the lines in the sketch more difficult to work with.  I had a bunch of ideas involving eggs, jelly beans, clouds and even a fence (that I spent way too much time cutting out for not using), but they all ended up too busy, so I stuck with just layers behind my photos.  The bunny and chick papers are ones that I stamped.  I don't often make my own pattern paper.  I forgot just how much fun it is to do! Having the photos in the extreme corners really jumped out to me as the main part of this sketch.  It would be a fun sketch to try again. And on one

Scrapbooking, Easter Sprinkles

Happy Monday!  I actually got around to scraping some Easter Photos of this year already!  It is a record.  I'm usually a year behind lol! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this page I made for the Memory Nest .  This is the first year in Seattle (for the six years I've lived here) where it has rained.  My kids still had a blast in the down poor finding eggs.  It really was just about the worst weather we possible could have here.  I think in the county below us they might have even had a tornado!  The Puget sound averages one tornado a year and it only lasts for a second or two and does practically no damage.  We rarely even get any thunder storms. I hope you like my take on the sketch.  The strip down really spoke to me for turning it into rain.  I decided to sew some ombre rain drops.  Then I thought clouds would work well for the horizontal stripes in the sketch.  I was surprised just how many cloud embellishments I have.  In the end, I went with these dark blue transpar

A little 50th anniversary card

A few weeks ago, my aunt and uncle celebrated their 50th anniversary.  I made this cute little card for them.  I snapped the photo real quick before sending it, so sorry it is focused more on the flower than the card! I have quite a few more aunts and uncles that are getting close to their 50th wedding anniversaries. It really is quite amazing!

Scrapbooking, Water Yucky

I love the tragic look of my little guy's face. I feel bad, but his sad face usually makes me laugh. Oh the things that make a toddler burst into tears! When I was looking for water embellishments in my stash, I found this vellum mushroom.  I thought the color worked really well with my page, and my backyard is constantly growing these huge mushrooms. My backyard is a breading ground for these things! So, I decided the mushrooms would work. I also discovered that I really don't have many embellishment that are water related.  Plus, all the summer ones are so happy and cheerful. I guess there is a low demand for grumpy summer stickers! Anyways, there is a fairly basic sketch from the memory nest this time around. As you can tell, I rotated the sketch to work for my landscape photo. I kept the layering to the matting of my one photo, because I really liked how my background paper looked without covering much up.

Scrapbooking, Hello Sunshine

It's time to share my layout for the Memory Nest again! I love this photo of my daughter.  I really wanted the photo to stand out, so I kept my layout in mostly black and white with just a bit of color. Now, I tried to get the round feel from the sketch by stitching a couple of circles in the background.  My first little one turned out great, but you can't tell because the photo covers most of it up.  Then the bigger circle is a bit more...wobbly.  I wish it wasn't so wonky, but there isn't a whole lot I could do about it.  Also, I used some rubons on this layout and they really didn't stick to my page much at all.  Luckily, I like the distressed look that they made.  It kind of has a paint or even gelato smudge look to it.

Scrapbooking, Weed Bouquet

I hope everyone had a good valentines day.  My daughter had so many fun activities with school and church.  I made lots and lots of boxes for her school class party.  It took forever!  I really think valentines day is the best when you are a kid and really should just be celebrated when you are little.  Little kids have so much joy when they give all their little friends cards.  If you do that as an adult you get a lot of weird looks! So here is my layout for the Memory Nest .  It defiantly has a love theme to it with my title. The crazy part is that I was in not the greatest mood when I was working on this page, but when I put the title down, I became much more calm.  It was very therapeutic. To sum up what happened, lets just say mean mommy comes out when mommy wants to go to bed after a very long day, but everyone is awake 3.5 hours past bed time and making a mess and destroying furniture. I was so frustrated and didn't know what to do, so I scrapbooked!  I also vowed t

Scrapbooking, Explore

Here is my bright page for The Memory Nest . It screams summer. I think I'm ready for winter to end! I just took down my chirstmas tree, so I want my long sunny days back! I've also had the never ending cold. I don't know why I'm saying had, because I still have it!  ugh! Anyways, this is a simple page, but it has a bunch of stitching on it that took a while to do. Every page seems to have its challenges.  This time,  I couldn't decide if I should go with my black and white photo or with my bright color one for the layout.  They both worked really well, but in the end the black and white one won. I have a bunch more photos from this day, so I'll probably do another layout with the color photos. Well, hopefully I'll get around to it.
