Crayon Roll Tutorial

I used to keep Moose's crayons in a Ziploc bag when we went out and about, but she would just dump them all out and they would roll all over the place.  At home I kept them in a bucket and that too she would just dump and half of them would be rolling on the floor.  So I knew it was time to make a crayon roll. Moose is loving it.  She spends a lot of time taking her crayons out and then matching the crayons with the right fabric spot and putting them back in. The first one I made does not have the bias tape around it (I personally like without it better), but that one only holds 14 crayons.  I thought 14 was a good number of crayons to have when you are out and about as 24 is way too many for a toddler.  Then I realized boxes of 16 crayons exist.  I had to make another one.  I first made these to hold Moose's twisty crayons (I hate all the plastic but she can't break them...and she refuses to use a broken crayon).  They also hold  the big fat crayons re

Reversable Play Smock

My newest sewing project is this cute little smock.  I found the pattern for it here .  I heart free patterns, they are great for people like me who are still new to sewing and just want to fiddle with trying a few new things.  I had Moose model it, even though it is for her cousin who is about the same size...maybe a little bit shorter.  I found that I had to make the straps a few inches longer.  Next time I will make them even longer because I still found them to be a bit short for tying.  I love the hippo in the front.  I think he adds a bit of charm. The back is super charming. Next time I do plan on making the front a little shorter...it hangs just a bit too long. But it does look perfect in the back.

Musical Flower

A while back I picked up a plain boring musical flower thing.  It just sat around for a few months waiting to have some something done to it. So I got out my markers and started to color the edges. Then I traced out the flower shape on some scrapbook paper, cut it out, and modge podge the paper on. I added a sparkly ribbon and tada! This musical flower thing has lots more personality.

Birthday Cupcake Card

Life has been a bit crazy lately.  I'm so lucky to have had my mom and brother out to visit us.  It's a long plane ride (actually two plane rides) for our family and close friends on the east coast to visit us.  It's such a bummer when they have to leave.  Poor Moose was so upset when we had to drop them off at the airport.  Anyways, I was so busy with our visitors that I didn't have too much time for making my niece's birthday card.  I sewed some scrap ribbon onto my card stock.  I used my cricut to cut out the cupcake and then used my markers to help add some depth to it.  Now I just need to learn to give myself more time in making my cards.
