Scrapbooking, Pumpkin Patch 2014

This was the layout that was supposed to be for this sketch challenge on the Memory Nest .  Sometimes things just get a little mixed up.  It's a cute page so that's all that matters in the end!   I love making fall pages.  They are my favorite to scrap.  I always get such wonderful photos this time of year. It's so tempting to use orange paper or other fall colors, but I decided to try and go for a different color scheme this year.  I'm really loving the blue and purple with the orange.  The biggest challenge was finding purple.  I don't have much purple paper and couldn't find any embellishments other than some confetti and sequence!  I definitely need to build up my purple stash!

Project Life, Week 1

So I decided to give project life a go.  I thought it might be a fun way to use up my stash a bit.  I have so many scraps of paper and embellishment bits, so I'm glad to put them to use.  I'm really trying to use up some washi tape.  I can't use it up fast enough.  Of course, I may have added some new stuff as well.  I just hope I don't fall too far behind.  I already got a later start on it then I wanted.  Let's see if I can get caught up a bit.

Scrapbooking, Hold Hands

I just wanted to share my creation for the Memory Nest's Make it Monday .  It's a really sweet color challenge for February.  I love the minty blue.  I actually had the perfect pictures for the be thoughtful and generous phrase, but the colors in the photos where all yellow and green and clashed so badly with this color challenge.  I might have to save that phrase for those photos though.  Anyways, I found this cute little photo of my daughter and her boyfriend and had to use it.     I decided to give those pesky gelatos another chance.  I put some gesso down (this seamed to make a HUGE difference) first and then smudge the gelatos down.  Then I spritzed some water on it and let it run together.  I really think that gesso stuff is key to getting gelatos to blend and get a much richer color.  I'm just glad to finally get the look I've been trying to get with those things!

Scrapbooking, Life is Beautiful

I just made this page real quick for SWAT's drill #24 .  For the challenge you have to add some buttons on your layout using the sketch.      I've been digging out photos of my daughter to see how my son looks compared to her.  They really do look so much alike, Anyways, I found this nifty blue star button that I really wanted to use and I love how it looks on the page, but I wanted to add more button and really didn't have any others that would work for the page.  Oh well.

Scrapbooking, Big Sister Lovin'

Ah it's Monday.  I have to fly back to Seattle later today after being on Holiday in Rochester, NY.  I'm sad to be leaving all my family (my daughter LOVED playing with all her cousins), but I will not miss the -6 temps, several feet of snow, and lots of wind. It's another color challenge over at Make it Monday over at the Memory Nest .  This color pallet is not my normal kind of color scheme as it is far too muted.  Oddly, it reminds me a lot of my sister's furniture from Florida.  If only I had a picture of it! To bring in the neutral color, I added the wooden frame and the cork stars.  In the inspiration I noticed a tiny bit of yellow on the table so I added the blue patch with the yellow star.  I had to get a little more color in!

Scrapbooking, Got Bread?

I just love this photo of my daughter and I have been letting it sit on my desk for way to long.  It shows the best part of being two and that's the mischief!  I decided to use the Paper Girls' Confetti Challenge to jump start scraping this photo.  It also helps that I've been on a confetti shaker obsession lately. I used up this film strip from basic gray to make my confetti shaker.  I always wanted to use the strip to hold photos, but I realized that it just was never going to happen because I never have photos that small to use or crop down to that size. I only had one photo of this moment and I knew that journaling was going to be important to capture what happened, so I had to make sure I had lots of room to journal.  I usually have the hardest time with journaling because I usually don't know what to stay, but I'm trying to get better at this.     I also tried to use gold on my layout.  I normally stay away ...
