A little 50th anniversary card

A few weeks ago, my aunt and uncle celebrated their 50th anniversary.  I made this cute little card for them.  I snapped the photo real quick before sending it, so sorry it is focused more on the flower than the card! I have quite a few more aunts and uncles that are getting close to their 50th wedding anniversaries. It really is quite amazing!

Scrapbooking, Water Yucky

I love the tragic look of my little guy's face. I feel bad, but his sad face usually makes me laugh. Oh the things that make a toddler burst into tears! When I was looking for water embellishments in my stash, I found this vellum mushroom.  I thought the color worked really well with my page, and my backyard is constantly growing these huge mushrooms. My backyard is a breading ground for these things! So, I decided the mushrooms would work. I also discovered that I really don't have many embellishment that are water related.  Plus, all the summer ones are so happy and cheerful. I guess there is a low demand for grumpy summer stickers! Anyways, there is a fairly basic sketch from the memory nest this time around. As you can tell, I rotated the sketch to work for my landscape photo. I kept the layering to the matting of my one photo, because I really liked how my background paper looked without covering much up.

It's time to share my layout for the Memory Nest again! I love this photo of my daughter.  I really wanted the photo to stand out, so I kept my layout in mostly black and white with just a bit of color. Now, I tried to get the round feel from the sketch by stitching a couple of circles in the background.  My first little one turned out great, but you can't tell because the photo covers most of it up.  Then the bigger circle is a bit more...wobbly.  I wish it wasn't so wonky, but there isn't a whole lot I could do about it.  Also, I used some rubons on this layout and they really didn't stick to my page much at all.  Luckily, I like the distressed look that they made.  It kind of has a paint or even gelato smudge look to it.

I hope everyone had a good valentines day.  My daughter had so many fun activities with school and church.  I made lots and lots of boxes for her school class party.  It took forever!  I really think valentines day is the best when you are a kid and really should just be celebrated when you are little.  Little kids have so much joy when they give all their little friends cards.  If you do that as an adult you get a lot of weird looks! So here is my layout for the Memory Nest .  It defiantly has a love theme to it with my title. The crazy part is that I was in not the greatest mood when I was working on this page, but when I put the title down, I became much more calm.  It was very therapeutic. To sum up what happened, lets just say mean mommy comes out when mommy wants to go to bed after a very long day, but everyone is awake 3.5 hours past bed time and making a mess and destroying fu...

Here is my bright page for The Memory Nest . It screams summer. I think I'm ready for winter to end! I just took down my chirstmas tree, so I want my long sunny days back! I've also had the never ending cold. I don't know why I'm saying had, because I still have it!  ugh! Anyways, this is a simple page, but it has a bunch of stitching on it that took a while to do. Every page seems to have its challenges.  This time,  I couldn't decide if I should go with my black and white photo or with my bright color one for the layout.  They both worked really well, but in the end the black and white one won. I have a bunch more photos from this day, so I'll probably do another layout with the color photos. Well, hopefully I'll get around to it.

Scrapbooking, Favorite Snapshot

I feel like this is such an old photo of my daughter.  She was only two in this photo.  Her two year old self sure was a lot less moody than the current five!  lol.  I love the girl, but wow has she changed.  She went from being a quiet observer to a loud performer.  Anyways, this is my layout for the Memory Nest .  I always really like single photo sketches.  They really let me focus on the photo.  I feel like I can be more artsy when they are single photos.  I've notice that the layouts I like to display are almost always the single photo ones. I've been trying to use up the wood veneer words.  I love them, but they are hard to store and are very fragile.  I've had a few break on me.  Sniffles.  I've also done some more stitching on the page.  I think it's been a while since I made a page without stitching.  The little blue zipper pull came from my daughter's chap stick pouch.  She pu...

Scrapbooking, Busy Playing

Happy New Year!  I have a fun layout for the Memory Nest to share.  This is my Christmas, but not too Christmasy, layout.  My kids were playing so nicely together the other day, so I started to snap a few photos.  Then my daughter said, "Mommy we're too busy playing for pictures."  I just had to make a page about it.  Since it happened right before Christmas, I wanted to use red and green.  My red is a bit more pink and my green is more teal.  I did dig into some of my winter embellishments.  I was really excited to use that llama stamp.  I just seem to really like llamas right now for no particular reason. I'm also excited to share my nicely organized paper.  My paper has been laying all over my house.  I had some in a drawer, some on my desk, some on a cabinet, a bunch on a shelf, and even a pile on the floor.  It was ridiculous!  I debated for a long time on how to organize it all.  I wan...
