Scrapbooking, Memories

Happy Tuesday!  I'm just about to fly back to Seattle from Michigan.  My little family and I were in a wedding.  We had lots of fun, but also got a ton of mosquito bites!  I certainly do not miss those buggers!  Anyways, I wanted to share the layouts I made for the Memory Nest just before I flew around the country with the new to me Memories kit!      The hues are not normal colors I work with, but they have a beautiful soft charm.  They look fabulous with black and white photos.  And there is plenty of papers that you can cut into fun bits and pieces.  I love papers with lots of versatility.  I feel like I get lots of bang for my buck this way!     The paper with all the colorful squares was probably my favorite piece out of the bunch.  It was so easy to cut them out.  It made it super easy and quick to put embellishments in each one.  This definitely was my favori...

Scrapbooking, Hold Hands

I just wanted to share my creation for the Memory Nest's Make it Monday .  It's a really sweet color challenge for February.  I love the minty blue.  I actually had the perfect pictures for the be thoughtful and generous phrase, but the colors in the photos where all yellow and green and clashed so badly with this color challenge.  I might have to save that phrase for those photos though.  Anyways, I found this cute little photo of my daughter and her boyfriend and had to use it.     I decided to give those pesky gelatos another chance.  I put some gesso down (this seamed to make a HUGE difference) first and then smudge the gelatos down.  Then I spritzed some water on it and let it run together.  I really think that gesso stuff is key to getting gelatos to blend and get a much richer color.  I'm just glad to finally get the look I've been trying to get with those things!

Scrapbooking, Stay This Little

Just wanted to share the page I made for The Memory Nest .  I'm so glad to still be on the design team for the Fall.     I felt like the color pallet on this challenge was very retro with all the brown, orange, and yellow.  It reminds me of the curtain hanging in my parents dinning room.  Anyways, I thought this color pallet would work well with these pictures of my daughter in her bright yellow shirt.    The twist to the challenge was to use one of the sayings for your tittle.  I decided to use the "I know you won't."  I just added on to it to make it more relevant to my page.    I had to keep the page simple, as I rather sleep than scrapbook right now.  Oh, I just hope the little guy will start to sleep more then just two hours in a row soon.  The lack of sleep is really starting to get to me.  The most complicated thing I did was cut out the hexagons (Hey, that is Moose's favorite s...

Scrapbooking, Firework Hair

What a bright page this turned out to be!  I made this page for SWAT drill #10 .  Summer never seems to start out here in the pacific northwest until July.  So, what better way to make a page celebrating summer than with one about July!     It's actually a fairly simple page, but the crazy red, white, and blue paper make this page seem kind of busy.  So, I kept my embellishments to a minimum.  My favorite part is the little wood star I used to dot the i in Firework.

Scrapbooking, Me and My Shadow

The page makes me so happy!  I made it for my entry to be on the SWAT design team .  I feel like there are a lot of design team calls going on right now!    I really love these photos of my daughter.  The sun had been hiding all winter and spring and finally on July 4th it came out!  My daughter had no idea what a shadow was.  I wanted the page to have a nod to the 4th of July since that is when it took place, but I didn't want it to be all red, white, and blue.  I found some old paper in my stash (I think it came from and old DCWV summer stack) that looked really similar to the table cloth in the photos.  I knew I just had to use it!   Once again I played around with shaker boxes.  This time I cut a star out and made the box behind it.  The box is a little deeper then I expected, so it is kind of hard to see what is inside of it.  One of these days I will be completely happy with how the...
