My Trip: This mountain was a crazy one to climb. It was a challenging climb, because not only was this my first time to climb with a big pack on my back, but it also was my first time sleeping in a lean-to. I was so afraid that bears were going to eat me and got only and hour or two of sleep. My goal was to climb Santanoni and also Panther and Couchsachraga. It did not happen. While it was not that hard of a climb, the big pack slowed me down and so did all the mud. On the way to the lean-to there was tons of mud, and I hate mud and I do not do well balancing on logs, so that slowed me way down. Once past the mud I had to go up a small mountain and up to a spot called Times Square (From this spot you can climb any of the three peaks). This climb was not that bad. Then you had to go back down the little mountain and make your way up Santanoni. Santanoni is rather frustrating because it has several false peaks, none of which seems much higher than the next. Since Santanoni is a tailless peak, there was a fair bit of little pine trees that I had to whack my way through. I strongly suggest wearing long pants and sleeves. I cannot say much about the view because I climbed it when a hurricane was coming. At the top, all I could see was a few feet in front of me, but it looked like it had potential.
