My Trip: From the top of Dix we went and made our way to Hough. Several people we talked to at the top of Dix were going to go to Hough, but could not find the heard path. For some reason, I was very determined to find it, and I did, but almost missed it. The path was to the left of Beckhorn. Basically you had to shuffle your way against the rock till you found a little clearing for your feet in the dirt. Going down Dix and up to Hough was awful. There was so much bush wacking. The trees took my headband off three times, as all the shrubbery was at the same level as my head. I also got hit in the head a few times by some good sized branches. I also managed to hurt my leg going up to Hough. Eventually I was so sick of everything, that I just stopped and took a break for a long time and eat a lot (that was my plan for the top of Hough). Only to find out that my break was litterally only five minutes away from the top. The way down Hough was even worse. Hough was just one slippery dirt slide down. There is not too many rocks to hop down, just a lot of dirt. Just to top it all off, I took a break on our way down Hough. I was drinking some Gateraid, when Bill asked me if I wanted a cheese stick. So I put my drink between my legs and reached for the cheese stick. Then my drink spilled all over my legs, so I had a very sticky and wet hike back down the mountain. I was thrilled to climb Hough, but Hough did not like me too much. We went down Hough with the roaring brook trail...though let me say there was not much of a roarng brook, in fact there wasn't even a trickle of water till the very bottom. The view was ok. It had a 180 view, very similar to Porter, but without the dramatic view. You only see a few hills and Dix mountain and some water.
