My Trip: Bill and started are trip around 7:30. It started off cold and crisp. It never really warmed up much at all, and at times when the wind blew it became kind of cold. The hike in was great, but it is a bit tricky to find the trail when you reach the lean-to. Though it might look like it goes up by the outhouse, it doesn't. The trail goes behind the lean-to. Now we were on the red trail from elk lake, but we did not take it up all the way (did not go via hunter's pass). I think we found a yellow trail and took that up. It was a steep way to go up, but somehow it took forever to gain elevation. I felt like it was never going to end, but once in a while we found a nice spot too look out at Hough. Once near the top, we got to Beckhorn, whcih had a lot of the scary rock that I hate, and the one part I really felt like I was going to fall off. That spot does not last too long and from there it was very easy to get to the sumit of Dix. At the top I found a nice rock, took my shoes off and ate lots of cheese sticks and crackers. I have to say the view was one of the best and the sun felt so nice and warm. I wanted to take a nap, but we had more to climb so our stay was short. Now going up we ran into a total of 3 people, but at the top I was surprized to how many people were there, and they were all so nice and talkative. Also, there was the most adorable little dogs. I can not believe they made it to the top.
