Well, I finally have been inspired to scrap again and I found a fun challenge with a very happy <a href="http://useyourstuff.blogspot.com/2021/03/419-mood-board.html">mood board</a> that got my creative juices going again.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Recently, my daughter got to dance her first solo on a stage. I had only seen her dance this when she was first learning this. She had a broken wrist at the time, so I never had seen some of the moves until she danced it on stage. It had been over a year since she was on a stage and she has never been on one all by herself. I wasn't sure how she was going to do. I could tell she was getting nervous, but she did a beautiful job. I was a very proud mommy. =) </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEYzHUNGgPSZDyBqdb8ipj3xC3WTkFdqRcTGav-A8lvjbUirQYtDv7Rsj-cnXG7jFPZC_j8EZtYJxqzE2s-AFJ4vV6ntJgFcwx_XbioEfdz4QAwoPpqPGuBg2H5BEWJorPSGk4HgVS7gQ/s2048/Firstsolo3.jpeg" style="clear: left; display: inline; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1526" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEYzHUNGgPSZDyBqdb8ipj3xC3WTkFdqRcTGav-A8lvjbUirQYtDv7Rsj-cnXG7jFPZC_j8EZtYJxqzE2s-AFJ4vV6ntJgFcwx_XbioEfdz4QAwoPpqPGuBg2H5BEWJorPSGk4HgVS7gQ/w238-h320/Firstsolo3.jpeg" width="238" /></a></div><br /><br />I really wanted to add one more picture, so I added this photo on a pull out tab. I made this paper background for a different reason, but it just became the perfect background paper for this layout. The watercolor top brings out the rainbow goggles so much. This has been such a strange year, but I'm glad we got to enjoy some water and sand. I worked on this layout while I was cooped up inside from all the wildfire smoke. I'm so glad for my clean rainy air again! <p></p>Saskiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13570934974308901251noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4019962575253068868.post-60050889387451699702020-05-10T08:00:00.000-07:002020-05-10T08:00:08.759-07:00Scrapbooking, Girl Scout Camp<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this is a layout that I made for a mixed media challenge and it isn't at all how I planned for it to turn out. It started with a long hunt on finding my daughter's girl scout camp photos. I knew that there were more of her at camp, but never found them. I wanted to do a layout filled with triangles, but I couldn't cut a decent triangle for the life of me. Then I saw a cool sketch with hexagons and planned on doing that. I happily made a shape on my silhouette and then used it to cut all my photos. I was playing around, but couldn't get my photos to line up like the sketch. I was super puzzled and then I realized why. I made pentagons instead of hexagons! I played for a long time with my pentagons trying to get a layout that I liked and eventually came up with this flower shape. Overall, it's a fun layout that is drastically different then my normal layouts, so it's a refreshing change.</div>

Here is my crazy hair layout that I made for a NSD throwback sketch challenge. I have been super into hand stitching on my layouts lately. I love the texture it makes, but it definitely takes a long time to do. I have a ton of cross stitching floss that came from my aunt when she passed away. My aunt was into cross stitch and so was my oma. And my mom still does cross stitch all the time, but my mom likes to do ones that have beads and buttons. I don't have the patience for those big projects, but I don't mind it in little bits on my scrapbook pages. I also used water color and gel medium on my page.</div>

I'm slowly working my way through scrapbook layouts. I didn't make a single page for my littlest guys 2018 scrapbook. Now I have one! I found paper with dino footprints in my stash, so I thought that would be cute to use to document his first steps. I had to dig for a long time to see if I had anythings else that was dinosaur related. I eventually found this dino paperclips. It took a while for me to get the paperclip part off of the red dino, but it was worth the effort.</div>

I can't believe how much scrapbooking I've been doing lately. I love the colors of this page. It reminds me of a cool summer day. I did some sewing on the background to add texture. I wanted to add some Gel Medium with the stencils, but it was all dried up! And because of the strange times we are in, I wasn't going to be able to drive down (it's a literal down because I live on a plateau and Michaels is at the bottom lol) to the store to get some. I did order some online, but who knows how long it will take to get here. Anyways, I used some white gouache paint instead. It's not as shiny and opaque looking as I wanted, but it works.</div>

I just made this fun and bright double page layout. It uses a lot of rainbow and birthday themed paper from Bella Blvd, Pebbles, American Crafts, and Recollections. My daughter's jazz dance was party themed. The costumes were so bright and colorful, so I had to use as much bright paper as possible. But because the papers were all so crazy, I had to go really easy on the embellishments. There is just a little bling, a few buttons, a couple of stickers, and one die cut on this page.</div>

I think I have already made more layouts this year then I did all of last year. I have found that I can work on a page in the morning while my kids are doing some work on the computer, that is if my littlest guy isn't asking me for snacks, to get a toy out and set up, or to help him in the bathroom!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This bold layout has a little tab that pulls out to show the ticket we used to get into the zoo. The tickets bright green color helped me choose the paper for the layout. If you look carefully, you can find a toucan, a polar bear, and a flamingo on my layout. We didn't see many animals. We just saw a lot of lights. This was one of the few activities we could do, because of his brother's concussion he got on Christmas day while running through the house. Wow, what a year this has become. I'm so bummed that my daughter only got to dance at one competition this year. Thinking about all the money spent for dance costumes that only got to be worn once is rather depressing. Then recital probably will not happen and we already bought all the costumes for that too! So many things being cancelled is very overwhelming. Then the homeschooling stuff has been a small disaster. All three of my kids need my attention all the time. I don't know how I even managed to get this layout done. It's a simple layout so that helps.</div>

Here is my second layout for the year! It's a bit of a challenge to try and make three different layouts using the same photos. For my daughter's layout, I pulled the blue from her shirt for inspiration for the paper I used. Blue typically isn't a color that screams fall, but the this hue really reminded me of the cool refreshing air fall brings. Her layout also has three gnomes on it! I kind of feel like I need to put gnomes on all my layouts now. lol! Back when she was little, I put a tiny ladybug on all her pages hidden somewhere. It's kind of a fun challenge.</div>

I just wanted to share this layout I made for my littlest guy. Just like on his brother's page, this layout also has three gnomes on it. I really love those little gnomes. They are so stinkin cute! I did some hand stitching on this layout for the title. I love the look of hand stitching and really want to add it to more of my layouts in the future. So far I have started the year strong and made two layouts so far! I home I can keep up the pace. I really enjoy scrapbooking so much.</div>

Oh it has been so long since I have scrapbooked. I have had so little time to do any. I feel like I am constantly cleaning! The little bit that has gotten completed, hasn't made its way onto my little spot on the web. How did I not post a single thing last year! Yikes! I have been doing many other projects for my home, for girl scouts (I'm a leader for my daughter's troop) and I am teaching art at my kid's school and that has been quite the adventure. Their district got rid of art teachers 40 years ago, so parents come in and teach to fill in the gap. This year I am going in for my son's first grade class, my daughter's fourth grade class and another fourth grade class where no parent would come and do it. I did this last year to and now I've got a good system going and I have a bit more time. Plus my littlest guy can keep himself occupied now, so I have found a bit more time.<br />

I found a<a href="https://www.acherryontop.com/articles/Becky-Fleck-Sketch-Challenge-%23152-17990"> scrapbooking challenge</a>, that sparked my desire to scrapbook again. So I made this layout of my three kids. I really miss doing challenges and being on a design team. Deadlines really helped me stay on top of scrapbooking! </div>

This is my last layout for <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/11/make-it-monday-no-100.html">the Memory Nest</a>. I can't believe it! It's been fun creating these layouts, but I'm ready for a bit of a scrapbooking break. I've got lots going on and a few non scrapbooking projects that I would like to get around to doing. Anyways, this layout was fun. I actually was able to get a little scrap piece of fabric for my daughter's Halloween costume onto the layout. I also made the little flair with my button maker. I need to remember to make more buttons. They are so much fun to make.<br />

Happy Monday! Wow was last week crazy. I experienced more drama than I ever imagined and I am so glad for a brand new week. They super short version is that some people got very emotional that a song wasn't going to be included in a winter sing-a-long. The full version takes me about 20 minutes to say and I don't even know how long that would take to type, so lets just enjoy my layout for <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/11/make-it-monday-no-99.html">the memory nest</a>. I used a bunch of stamps and colored them in on this layout. I was in a very stampy mood. My favorite part is how the title turned out. The little lamp post sticker was just a perfect fit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Normally I do a pumpkin patch layout, but we never made it to the pumpkin patch this year. We had too many activities and the one day we could go, the weather was a disaster. We had a solid downpour all day long and that's no fun when you have a baby. I did try to make up for it by going around my neighborhood and getting some photos of my kids. My daughter says she was fine with not going to a pumpkin patch, but it just does not feel like fall with out my corn maze! Oh and we have had snow today and a couple days before (we almost never get snow), so I'm totally in the mood to put up my Christmas tree.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you're wondering what my kids are they were a mermaid, angler fish (the lightbulb one), and narwhal. It was a sea theme.</div>

Happy Monday! I've got my latest<a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/10/make-it-monday-no-98.html"> Memory Nest</a> layout here. My littlest guy loves to wack on drums, and when we went to the play place at the zoo we found a couple of drums He had such a blast. He gives me some of the best smiles. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I didn't really have too many musical embellishments when making this layout, so I painted some notes and used some musical paper to make a little frame. The sequence circle ended up reminding me of drums. It's fun when something works out like that!</div>

Happy Monday! I just love this happy layout. I found some fun rainbow strips of paper I had laying around and I knew they were perfect for my <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/10/make-it-monday-no-97.html"> Memory Nest</a> layout. I've been looking at a bunch of my past layouts and I realize that black and white combined with rainbows tends to make some of my most favorite layouts. It sure is hard to get a lot of layouts done lately. My little Benji bunny likes to keep me up lots, so I've been functioning on very little sleep. It's hard to scrapbook when all you want to do is take a nap</div>

So it might look like three layouts, but really it's only one <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/09/make-it-monday-no-96.html">Memory Nest</a> layout that I have for you. My layout features a pull tab that slides the photo to be three different ones of my littlest one falling asleep. I'm really glad this worked out so well. It's been forever since I've done an interactive page. I hope you enjoy my take!</div>

Happy Monday! Here is my layout for <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/09/make-it-monday-no-95.html">the Memory Nest</a>. We just got back from our trip to Walt Disney World. We weren't going to do any character things, but my daughter put this wookiee shirt on when we went to Hollywood Studios. There isn't a ton for little kids to do there and the line was short to see Chewbacca. He was so much fun and was one of our favorite experiences from our trip. The layout is simple, but looks cool in person. I didn't want to over do the layout since it had so much stitching on it, but I might go back and to a little boarder around it.</div>

Hey, I'm really late in posting this. It was my layout last month for <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/08/make-it-monday-no-94.html">the Memory Nest</a>. I was back east visiting my family and ment to post this while I was there, but my mom ended up having a stroke and that ocupid my mind. Thankfully, my mom is doing really well. It even took longer for me to post, because we went to Flordia (Disney World) right after that and finally are home.</div>

Happy Monday! It has been a busy time at my house. Lots of birthdays in the summer for us! My daughter just had her party this weekend. Few, I'm glad it is done. It was chaos! A lot of smoke has been coming down from fires in Canada and we haven't been able to spend much time outside because of the poor air quality. It's also been in the 90s almost every day and most of Seattle has no air conditioning. Being stuck in a hot house that can't have the windows open is no fun. </div>

Anyways, here is my <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/08/make-it-monday-no-93.html">memory nest</a> layout. My husband had to fly to Toronto for work on my son's birthday, so we went to the zoo the day before and did things we don't normally get to to like feed animals and ride the carousel there. I still wanted to do something on his birthday, so we gathered the neighborhood kids and had a mini celebration on our driveway. It was cute, fun, and easy. These are the photos I took. I had a bunch, and this layout made it easy to get a lot on. Also, I got that frame maker from we r memory keepers....I made the rainbow frame with it. Since I use so many frames on my layouts, I thought it would be worth getting it. It works well and I'm glad I bought that tool.</div>

Happy Monday! Here is my layout for the <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/07/make-it-monday-no-92.html">Memory Nest</a>. I must say, that I thought I would get a lot more scrapbooking done this summer, but it seems to be difficult to find the time. I guess the nice weather has been calling me outside too much. My daughter recently bridged from being a Daisy to a Brownie in Girl Scouts. It was really cute, but the lighting was horrible. I tried to make the best of the poor photo quality. I spent a ton of time on the background of this layout, and you can't see most of it. I first used my markers to make this circle of dots. Then I painted more bigger circles. Finally I used this glaze stuff to make four different textured regions. You can see the triangles in the upper right best. I was going to watercolor so the textures pop out more, but decided that it might make the page too busy. I already have a lot going on and it is a bit tricky to read the title.</div>

Here is my<a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/06/make-it-monday-no-91.html"> Memory Nest</a> layout for this week. My layout is a cute one of my little guy. I love the outfits with little ears. They are my weakness. I recently got a button maker for my daughter's birthday and I made that little panda button using it. It took a couple of attempts, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I see lots and lots of buttons in my future. Buttons are one of my favorite embellishments for scrapbooking.</div>

Wow it's monday. We had such a busy week! There was pony riding with girl scouts, ballet recital, hand chime playing, and a gymnastics show. I'm exhausted from it all. Anyways, here it my latest <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/06/make-it-monday-no-90.html">Memory Nest</a> layout. The photos are from when my daughter recieved her ballet costume and tried it on. She was a little blue bird. She loves the outfit because it has feathers instead of sparkles. Feathers are soft compaired to sequence that gets itchy and scratchy! It has been a while since I edited photos, but I really wanted to make the blue of her tutu stand out. The alpha stickers I used on my layout are not my favorite, but it turns out I don't have to many blue options. The l and the u in blue look the weirdest.</div>

Wow, how can it be monday already? Time is going by much to fast! Here is my latest layout for the <a href="http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2017/06/make-it-monday-no-89.html">Memory Nes</a>t. The background is supposed to look like tire tracks...it might have worked a bit better if I used black paint instead of white. Oh well. This was a fun layout to do. This is my first real boy layout out of what I can only imagine will be many. I've never scraped trucks before! I discovered that I don't have too many boy geared embellishments with the exception of monsters. I have a lot of *cute* monsters. With the lack of manly embellishments, I actually tried to make a big dump truck for the background. It didn't go to well. My truck making needs a lot of work. HAHAHA!</div>

I decided to make my photos be the angle shape. This let me have a bunch more photos. I still have a ton of extra truck photos though. It was a fun event. So many types of trucks! The bomb squad truck with the robot was one of the coolest! It also was interesting to hear the search and rescue driver as they own their own vehicles since they are all volunteers.</div>
