Scrapbooking, Adore

Every once in a while, I make a layout that I absolutely love and this is one of them.  I think it might be the rainbowness of it all that I love.  This is really a random photo of my daughter that I took while we were waiting for the bus.  I played with the photo on my phone and made it more rainbowy.  I really like how it came out, so I printed it out for my project life, but then I decided it needed its own page.  It really is a random page for a random photo.

This is my page for the Memory Nest. The circles on the sketch were my major inspiration.  I felt that they would make a fun background.  At first, I changed the circles to triangles and then I noticed all these old frames on my desk.  I'm a chipboard frame hoarder. lol.  I thought most of the frames were really ugly or they had patterns that I would never use.  At first, I was going to just paint the frames white, but then I decided to make them gray.  I'm glad I made them gray because now they blend into the background more and act more like texture to the page.  The paint I used is called Gouache.  It's kind of thick paint and works really well to cover up chipboard.  The paint does not blend well.  It dries quick and in layers.  It almost has a grit to it.  I used to hate this paint, but it really has grown on me.  I also like to use it when I use stencils and want a lot of dimension.

Scrapbooking, Snip Snip

SnipSnip1

I've got a cute layout this week.  It's my little guy's first haircut.  Someday my daughter will have a layout like this, but she still hasn't had her first hair cut.  I actually put the little bag of his hair snipits on the layout.  I wasn't going to at first, but what else was I going to do with them?  So I used a bunch of rub-ons from Amy Tangerine on this layout.  Those rub-ons stink.  I had the hardest time getting them to fully stick on.  It was a shame because the scissor ones were really cute, but they only partially stuck, so I had to stick the be brave sticker over them.  If you look really carefully, you can see a little gold stick out.

This layout is for the Memory Nest's Make it Monday.  You can see how I interpreted the sketch.  My title moved down so I could add the hair and journaling.
